A lot of this Syd Barrett English whimsy hasn't dated very well. Which is why it was probably best that he left [ was kicked out? ] of the group. The genius of '' Interstellar overdrive '' apart a lot of this stuff is cringe worthy today.

I need to fess up !! Have been a massive Floyd fan since I first heard Obscured By Clouds, but I've never heard Piper !!! And I'm dismayed !! I've gone through my life without the pleasure of this in my head !! This is a day to remember in my personal time line then.
The psychodelic era is very evident in this.

Best album the Floyd ever did, hands down. And yes, it was due to Mr. Barrett. Imagine the course the band would have taken had he received the help he needed back in 1967-68 (if the resources available now were around then). Probably a less self-indulgent lot, I think.
