  • Haven't seen such an intense fire. It seems almost fruitless trying to put it out!!

  • 30 years ago next week....

  • Uh...I never knew my YouTube name was after this. It really isn't.....awkward

  • i left lynn a year before this :(

  • @ak23funsizd Lynn Massachusetts. It burned down the whole city almost. Im from there :)

  • I'm 12 and I have no idea how this happended and where and what is the great lynn can someone give me a little history lesson here ?

  • My oldest daughter, Renee was only 5 months old and I remember we had rusty water on Johnson St. in Lynn. I also remember talking to my late father and he said they had no electicity or water. They lived on Amity St. and I said they were lucky the wind didn't blow in the direction of their house. Amity St. is the last street off of Washington St. before the Lynnway. The fire started on the site of what is now North Shore Community College.

  • I remember this like it was yesterday...I was 7 years old at the time and lived on Oxford Terrace right next to the old welfare office. I remember coming outside and it was literally brighter than daylight, very surreal. The site became an impromptu obstacle course/playground for months after the fire, I remember getting chased out out of there by Lynn Police. It looked like those pictures you see of Europe during/after WWII.

  • I was 16 years old and lived at the beginning of Chestnut street near the Lewis and Broad intersect. I watched with my mother as one fire truck after another rolled by from all over the state. By the time I got down town Lynn, hunderds of people had gathered to watch this capsizing event; you literally could not take your eyes away from it. Huge pieces of ash still afire were floating all around us and the smoke was thick like pea soup. Nov 28 1981 - the Great Lynn fire~

  • i remember this i lived 8 blocks from it i was 10 years old.
