Glee Star Monteith Speaks Out On Homelessness

source: news.sky.com / Glee star Cory Monteith has spoken out about the "hidden problem" of youth homelessness - linking it to his own troubled teenage years.
During a break from rehearsals of the live Glee tour, the Canadian actor visited a hostel in west London, the Foyer.
There he told residents of his turbulent teenage years, during which he changed schools 12 times and battled drug problems. At one point he was homeless.
"This is a personal issue for me. I've been at risk and living in a marginalised situation and my passion is to give something back.
"That sounds so hokey, but it's a shame to be in a situation and not raise awareness for the greater good."
Monteith said: "It is an all-pervading social problem, not just here in the UK, but worldwide and in my home country Canada and the USA.
"It is something that is truly unacceptable in this day and age and in the first world for people to overlook the problem of youth homelessness."

The video's about a charismatic guy who's been on the less fortunate end, and has seen what it's like, and is trying to give back now that he has the opportunity. That's not loud, that's not showy. He's a simple guy, he keeps to himself- the last thing he would do is make a big to-do of something for the publicity. Nothing here is hyped bullshit.. he's been to hell and back and now wants to help.

@swativasireddy totally agree with you! certfiedgooner729 is probably following the latest craze i have noticed 'hate anything that is well liked.' Glee is popular for not just the show, the script and the songs, it's loved as well because the cast are so nice; everyone just wants to see their light. Cory Monteith has been through struggle and now he's doing the smart thing by using his star status to raise awareness in something he feels for. No shame in that! I know i would do it!

@CertifiedGooner729 and the reason you're watching and commenting on a video of someone you don't like is.....? Cory's done tremendous things for causes he believes in, as have the rest of them. They're helping to change the world, and regardless of what opinion you have on the show, the cast members themselves are terrifically inspirational and try to give back as much as they can.

Despite their star status worldwide, they're obviously still kinder, humbler, and more gracious than you.

@cdltpx 4 I killed myself because I saw no good in this world I tried to find the good and EVERYONE failed me. I didn't want my blood family to be able to get a single cent from my death because they as good as killed me.When you see something wrong YOU should tell the people that are being wronged what you KNOW. If you know a man is working and his gal is cheating you need to tell him somehow write, pictures, video anything so he can correct that while he is still able to work and correct it.

@cdltpx 3 We have paid off our home the kid is a perfect student I paid to put my wife through school our home cars are paid for and our families both sides have PROVEN to be either our right abusive or just all out USERS. I probably suffered some brain damage when I took an entire script of Ambien Muscle relaxers and blood pressure medicine. I can not tell you how I am alive but I am my short term memory is toast patience level toast. People are usually homeless because of USER & ABUSERS !
