New Buffy the Vampire Slayer Movie

Remakes like Star Trek and Footloose seem to be taking a popular turn these days. So when original movie-makers of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" began talking about re-launching the original film and maybe even doing a series of movies just like we're seeing right now with Twilight, franchise owners jumped on board.

Oddly enough, the original film actually bombed at the box offices in 1992. Even with stars like Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry, the movie failed to rake in the dough-maybe audiences just weren't ready for a big vampire flick.

According to insiders from the Hollywood Reporter the film will not be a sequel or a prequel. Like I said before it will be a re-launch that plans to re-introduce a whole new generation of fans to Buffy. So what does this mean?

Well we won't be seeing anyone from the hit show that followed the film. That means no Sarah Michelle Gellar, and definitely no additional characters from the TV show like Angel, Xander or Spike.

No word yet on who will be taking over the role of Buffy, but considering the buzz surrounding the film, lots of young actors will probably be fighting for the top spot. Who do you think should land the role? Head to our comments section and let us know!

I wouldnt be surprised if it was someone like Ashley benson, mika boorem or sara paxton does this...but i would LOOOVE to see heather morris do this ahahah yes shes a blonde but she seems the most spontaneous choice for this role!!!!

I really want Sarah Michelle Gellar to play Buffy seriously.....the film just won't be right without Buffy and the original cast from the show :( 😢

I actually look forward to the relaunch. Movies and shows like Vampire Diaries and Twilight made the vampires way strong. I don't think even Buffy could move as fast as they did. As for the original cast..I love Sarah Michelle Gellar. I'm still a fan. However, she's too old. So is David Boreanez. This needs not only a new generation, but a new outlook on vampires themselves. Those shows romanticized vamps. That can't be ignored. With stars like Jolie good luck getting a young kick-ass girl.

I'm sorry but they CANNOT replace Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy!!! Who cares if it would make a lot of money, why don't they just leave the franchise in peace and leave the fans to sit at home having marathons?
