It depends on what one does with these knives as to whether they hold an edge or not. Mine have held up so far, but I have the 440C steel in my Homeland Security, while some of the newer models have 440A. Mine, too, is a fixed blade model. I've been wanting to try one of these big folders, though. I don't doubt but what these khives will sharpen up just fine with a ceramic V-shaped sharpener like the Spyderco or Lansky.
