More how to play 40k: http://www.miniwargaming.com/show/intro-warhammer-40k

Matthew continues his introduction to Warhammer 40k by demonstrating what happens when Khorne Berserkers attack Space Marine Terminators.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is meant for beginners, we have left out more complicated rules such as wound allocation and morale. This is not meant to replace the rulebook, but instead to showcase the various fun things that happen in 40k.

  • I'm not really interested in the game I'd just love to paint the models, they look awesome. Big fan of Warhammer games so may give a spin at painting some stuff and dotting my room around with them.

  • @TheMortamorJames that is one of th special things they said they were not going to calculate

  • what about combat resolution? the berserkers lost combat twice and should have taken fearless wounds

  • @Yooric90 Ah, my bad then :P But I agree, if you don't know the rules it's pretty hard to wrap your head around int. My first few games were mostly spent with my nose in the rulebook and trying to figure out what to roll against and so on.

And Fantasy have even more complicated rules, IMO, but each to their own :P

  • @MetalWolf88 I know there is more too it=P I'm not saying this game is just a bunch of dice. I have played it xD or the fantasy one. Not bashing on the game, I think it's cool but I never really learnt how to play. I just sat and read rules and never really got it anyway=S

  • @bleasdale2007 Yeah, the dice sure can be against you sometimes. I had a full squad use First Rank, Second Rank for almost 30 dice on 4 or 5 Space Wolves, didn't do a thing. On the flip side, I had a lone guardsman survive three hits from a Starcannon once. I get the whole dice game isn't for everyone, but I rather like the random element. A single roll can change the course of the game sometimes :P

  • @bleasdale2007 N1 :P

  • @Smellydoodies

or 3+ with storm shields which is annoying but shooting from 3 Wraithguard and 6 fire dragons reduced them to 1 out of 5

  • @MetalWolf88

Yeah like my Eldar Dire Avengers with a farseer and asurmen bladestormed a squad of 4 devastators and even with guide, they rolled slightly badly only inflicting 13 wounds which all but 4 were saved. I could of done better though.

  • @Yooric90 Only in such small battles. When you move up to larger games you have more units and you need to start thinking a bit. For example, I play Imperial Guard, and it's not uncommon for me to have over 100 models on the table in larger games. The Guard is very much about lots and lots of shots, so I need to think about where to concentrate my fire, which units are the biggest threat and so on.

So yeah, it's alot of dice, but not just dice ;P
