So the lighting setup (strobist info) you gave at the end of the video seems more accurate than what you posted on your website. Looks more like unmodified strobes than a softbox.
How did you get the blue background? It doesn't look like white balancing to me (because of the color and texture).... did you photoshop that in?

To your surprise, it's a combination of white balance, and contrast. I increased the "blacks" in the photo, which naturally saturates the photo. The WB was set to 5000 Kelvin°
The speedlight flashes are daylight balanced at about 5500K°
thus, it comes out blue, and the deepened blacks made it more prevalent.
