http://www.mlwebco.com - In this video I go over a few tools you can use to create web forms on your website, Relevant Tools (http://www.relevanttools.com) and EmailMeForm (http://www.emailmeform.com). Personally, I've been using Relevant Tools for quite some time now, so I can vouch for them. But EmailMeForm I hear is pretty good as well.

In regards to how a form should be designed, I would recommend downloading and going through a presintation by LukeW called Web Form Design Best Practices:

http://www.lukew.com/resources/articles/WebForms_LukeW.pdf

This is an in depth study done on the best practices for designing your forms. Basically, it goes over information like whether it's best for form labels to be align on top of the form, to the left, or aligned right. Tons of valuable information on usability in regards to web forms.

Anyway, hope this information gets you started on creating web forms for your website. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

  • If you're asking like how to export text and image from Fireworks CS4 and make it so that the text converts to HTML. ..Don't think it's possible. The only thing Fireworks can do is, you can slice your mock-up and export to Dreamweaver, but all Fireworks can do is save the entire image. It can't recognize it the text is HTML or part of the graphic. The only way I do it is manully. Just save the background, then add the text via Dreamwaver. That make sense?

  • Thanks for your quick answer and yes, I understand what you're saying.

I must say that my upcoming website is starting to look really good, and it's all thanks to your videos and tips. So I'm very grateful for all your free knowledge given away, keep it up!

Btw, is a portfolio a good thing to have on your website if you've just started your web business and don't have much to show yet?

    Thanks.

  • Totally appreciate the props. Glad you're getting good insight from my videos.

Here's what I would do. I would just talk about who you are, what you do, your services, contact info, etc. and leave out the portfolio tab until you have at least one mock-up. It can be a fake company, just something you mock-up really quick. Don't include the Portfolio link and have "Coming Soon!" ...it's better to not include that page at all, then add it later.

  • Thank you!

  • Glad you got something from it.

  • Hi Michael.

Do you know a easy way to make text and picture go together as on your website in the "Meet Michael Locke" section in Fireworks CS4?

    Thanks.
