  • This is my Mom! I'm her youngest Son - Pat. Thanks for the nice compliments. She had an amazing voice back then. She quit the business when I was born in 1964. She could have accomplished so much more if she had kept singing professionally. Oh well, she had her reasons.

  • You know what's amazing about this song (other than the obvious - great vocals, great lead, haunting melody, etc.)?

    NONE of the lines in this song rhyme! NONE of them! It's written more like a statement than a lyric. Is it based on a poem?

    VERY weird! A+++++++++!

  • @JimmyPower That's not really true. The end of each line rhymes.

  • I heard this song when I was a little kid and loved it... I spent years trying to find out who did it and where I could get it... never had any luck until recently.

    Betty Foley was great. Listen to some of her other stuff. Her decision to retire was the music world's loss

  • hi, I only ask one thing about this song. Was this song not be called "race music" at the time? Not trying to be ignorant, just know that many musicians at the time were given a hard time because they were doing music originally done by black musicians, elvis had problems about this too

  • this gal is one of Red Foley's daughters. Her sister, Shirley, is Pat Boone's wife

  • I have another one, check my side

    with best Rockin' Regards to your Mom and to You

    Rock & Roll Daddy-O

  • The only other singer write I know who sang like this was Roy Orbison. Nearly all his songs did not follow the standrd way of writing songs.

  • I remember a danish writer called Poul Borum playing the other side of this record on danish radio. It must have been in 1980 or 1981, if I'm not mistaking.

  • Betty Foley is related to Red Foley and Pat Boone
