The FMS is a screening tool to identify deficits and asymmetries in fundamental movement patterns. It consists of seven movements that are scored from 0-3. Research shows that a score of less than 14/21 increases the risk of injury dramatically.
If you are training for strength, endurance or trying to develop sport specific skill on top of faulty movement patterns, then you are reinforcing those patterns and increasing the risk of injury.
