Even when he's making it up as he goes along, Jack White kicks ass. You have to give credit to Meg, too, for knowing exactly what to do and when, even though the song's being made up as they go along.

Jack refers to himself as "The Third Man" or "Jack White III" sometimes. He has a record label called Third Man Records. As the other commenter stated, it has to do with everything that the band is about is in "3's" - Red White and Black; Rhythm, Harmony, and Vocals, etc. This was stated in an interview in the Under Great White Northern Lights Movie.

Well, a great majority White Stripes are 3 chord songs. That's all you need to play the blues.

He's said it's like a blessing for him (i.e. Holy Trinity). Also, it's an easy way to structure a song in the Stripes. Vocals/guitar/drums. Vocals/guitar/piano. Meg sings/Meg plays organ/ He plays guitar.
