LU orchestra, jazz, and choir students recently performed the U.S. premiere of "Migrations", a suite of pieces composed by Fred Sturm, Lawrence's Director of Jazz Studies. Joining them onstage as featured soloist was multiple Grammy-winner, Bobby McFerrin. The video features concert clips and commentary from Bobby McFerrin himself.

  • Bobby - a living treasure and even more beautiful with dreads.

  • @rath9732 Yeah, Mark's my dad. I'll share this comment with him!

Is Alex related at all to Mark Bunke? [LU, 1977?] We played in the percussion section at LU together in 1973-75. He was a fine drummer in a really cool cover band!

  • Breathtaking!! To see the creativity and discovery in the students is a dream come true for any educator! I've worked with McFerrin in the OKC Philharmonic and he is remarkable. [Come back, Bobby!]. Becker and Sturm are gems in LU's crown!! BRAVO!! [Carl Rath, LU, '75; Bassoon Professor, 1978-1981]

  • This is why I miss the videos produced by Alex Bunke. With all due respect to the new team, the later videos just don't have the fast-paced, cohesive, exciting story line. A lot of time, they are like random scenes putting together while Alex's videos are like movie trailers.

  • I went to this concert with my Choir Teacher listed below!!! It was quite awesome!! I wish I could have actually talked to Bobby though. I wish we could have also taken pictures and video.

  • This concert was amazing! I took a bunch of high school students and they were all overwhelmed and inspired by this performance. I hoping there is a CD release in the future or published scores.
