@trappinfeaver This guy called me because he was trying to catch a raccoon that was teasing his dog, but instead, caught a skunk. He was afraid of getting sprayed and called me to get the skunk out of the trap. He wanted me to relocate the skunk but under Colorado State law it is illegal to transport or relocate the striped skunk.I can also call the DOW and ask since it was on public/city property. You(the trapper) would have to deal with the city too since it was city property.
@trappinfeaver No that's not what I'm saying. This trap was set on public/city owned property without any permit, and was illegal. You can trap "nuisance" wildlife if they are causing damage on your property, but you cant relocate skunks in Colorado.
@Wildrsq so you tellin me if you live in tow and you had some nucience skunk living under your hous you couldnt set a trap and catch it even if you were gonna let it go somwhere else? yea whatever. it is also illigal to screw with other peoples traps.
@trappinfeaver If you hunt or trap, you have to have a permit or license. And even then you cant hunt or trap inside the city limits. Skunks are awesome animals!
@Wildrsq since when do you have to have a permit? public land is open to the public you dont need one and espacially dont need one for skunks..there varmits. and if you did need a permit how would you know if he had one or not?
@Wildrsq Poaching? no. if it was in the city it would have just as easy to beat it over the head, one hit and its dead. somtimes people wanna make some money and somtimes thats involves skining a skunk...once you get used to it, it dont take but a couple minuets. :p
@trappinfeaver Shooting it ,skinning it, getting rid of the smell and selling it sounds like ALOT more work than just opening the trap and letting it free( it only took 6 minutes 56 seconds). I'm sure the fine for discharging a firearm and poaching in the city would be a lot more then the fur is worth :p
