The weekend of June 19-21, the Cumbres and Toltec hosted the RGS #5 Goose and a special Friends of the C&TS photo freight. This video is from Saturday the 20th.
OMG..this brings back so many memories. i remember the trip to chama, and doing the photo ops and stuff with goose 5 and engine 463 the first year the goose was restored. i went thru seeing it all. from the time the goose was sitting and rotting, until it was fully restored and running the line in chama..glad to see they still take the old beast out
It was interesting to see a running Goose, but it's no substitute for a K-36. What I can't believe is that the Fred Juke's Tree is still alive! It looked like hell last time I was there in 1983. Cool!
Way were they called "Galloping Goose"?
