@metanoeo1 That is as a result of the mixing, not the singers. The mix is compressing the audio, which equalizes (increases the volume of) the quiet parts, and/or limits the volume of the louder parts.

Im a Catholic Music Director. I was at a parish where the Pastor was formerly Baptist. he loved this song along with others. I never knew how to present this song, and such beauty it potrayed. This is soo beautiful.
