@scoutcollins Johnny Marr is an amazing guitar player. The Smiths wouldn't have made it without him. That being said, R.E.M. is a better band than the smiths in my opinion
Man, Buck's guitar playing is just amazing. Every time I hear an old R.E.M. recording, I notice something different about the sound of his guitar. I haven't heard any other guitarist who can pick the strings the way he does.
Anyone who experienced the magic of Athens in the 80s or 90s and happened to meet the gents from REM- words don't describe it. Just a special vibe.

True "American Grassroots" is all I can say. When I first heard this song back when I was a teenager it changed my life.

Now Johnny Marr stepping in to play with REM back in the day would have been bad ass to hear.

GAdawgsfan93: check out a guitarist named Johnny Marr. Picks in that arpeggio style, and in a whole lot of other ways, even better.
