Deadly Indian Tank Collapse

CHEN:
A water tank that was being built has collapsed in India's northern Gurgaon district. Ten people are dead and two injured. Eyewitnesses say some of the workers were washing their utensils while others were bathing when the storage tank gave way.


[Jai Karan, Injured Worker]:
"The tank was outside... it was full of water and people drowned in it. Around five people died on the spot and two of us are injured."

Police are investigating and have not ruled out the use of substandard material.


[Inder Singh Seni, Deputy Police Commissioner]:
"The tank collapsed all of a sudden, may be because of the material used, we are still investigating."


The injured are being treated at a local city hospital.
