Garage Kittens: Feeding Time

On May 10, my mom heard meowing from somewhere amongst the boxes in our garage. I went out there to help her search, and we discovered four kittens. This footage is from that day after we took them inside to protect them from the heat and give them some milk (their bellies weren't swollen like they would be after feeding).

I understand that regular milk is not the best food for kittens. That was a temporary arrangement since we believed the kittens might have been without food for a few days. We did place the kittens in a covered box in the garage with the door lowered so that only a cat could get inside, and the mother found them soon after. We fed the mother for a few days to gain her trust and humanely placed her in a cat kennel for transport, along with her kittens of course, to the animal shelter that I had been volunteering at for the past year. I know for certain that at that shelter they would be well cared for.
