I first heard this piece on vinyl when I was about eight or nine years old, and it really stuck with me. Something put it back in my head again recently, so I thought I'd have a go at it.
I didn't exactly stick to the script on this one. First of all, I only play it through twice. I figured that one repeat would get the point across well enough. My personal taste is for a slightly slower tempo with this piece, also.
Purists may note that I differ from the written version in the section immediately preceding the repeat. Quite frankly, I couldn't remember whether that one bit led with the A-flat or the D in the right hand, so I simply played it both ways rather than go digging around for the sheet music to check it (the first way is correct, it turns out). If you know the piece intimately or recently listened to a proper recording of it, it might sound jarring. Otherwise, it shouldn't bother you too much. I often subscribe to the "That's Close Enough" school of musical performance, which is one of many reasons why I don't play more classical music.
Ha ha, I love that you describe it as "close enough" . What a humble guy. Thanks for posting, that was incredible.

@TheYakkis
Thank you! (I could probably benefit from being more humble, so I am glad it came off that way.)
