Installed a set of JL Audio c5 653 components fiberglassed into A Pillars running off an XD 600/6. 2 JL Audio 12w6v2's on bass in a ported enclosure I built to spec.

  • (cont.) Maybe I just become comfortable where the highs are coming from and can't seem to envision hearing them coming from down near my feet. lol So how did you use your XD 600/6? Did you bridge all six channels to power each speaker separately and if so what were the results like compared to just the four channel individually route?

  • @dominijerzboiI have the first 4 channels bridged to the passive crossovers for the C5 653's so each side is getting 150 rms. If you run a set of 653' s i highly reccommend giving them 150 rms to each side, you will get much more volume and they can handle it without any issues. I plan to use the last two channels for rear fill later on but there is nothin hooked up to them now.

  • Thanks for the quick reply! JL Audio told me the same thing about putting the midrange and tweeter in custom kick panels but I like how they look and sound in your A--pillar so that's why I was thinking about going that route besides my tweeters are currently in A-pillars(factory location). The amount I would probably spend on custom made A-pillars would probably be equivalent to custom made kick panels.

  • @dominijerzboi Either setup will sound awesome. i personally like the look of the A-Pillars and wanted my soundstage a bit higher as well, but kicks can give you great imaging as well if set up properly. The C5 tweet has a very smooth sound that can get very loud but not feel too agressive which works well in the A Pillar location.

  • Ayo your system is of the chain man! I got a question I am in the process of putting a system together utilizing the JL Audio C5 3-way speakers upfront. Do you find it better to have the 4" midrange in the A-pillar or in the door near the woofer?

  • @dominijerzboi Thanks, It is best to keep the 4" mid as close to the tweet as possible. If you can get them all three right next to eachother that would be even better, but i didnt notice any difference with the mid in the door. i have the 6 3/4 in the factory door location and the mid and tweet in the A-Pillar. An option that JL Audio recommends is having the 6 3/4 in the door and the mid and tweet in the kicks
