How to Reformat & Reinstall Windows XP

This is a tutorial showing you on how to prepare for a clean installation, this involves reformatting your hard drive, this will get you a brand new install of Windows XP, with all your drivers and documents backed up.

Q and A...

Q. Will this format my hard drive?
A. Yes EVERYTHING will be gone unless you have separate partitions

Q. What are partitions?
A. In simple terms, your hard drive divided up into separate pieces with separate amounts of space.

Q. How long will this process take?
A. It depends how much space you use, but usually around an hour and 15 minutes.

Q. Can I back up my hard drive files into another partition?
A. Yes you can, learn how to do that yourself

Q. Is this all I need to do to prepare for the installation?
A. Yes in most cases, but make sure you have your installation discs for things like printers and routers.

Q. I don't have an XP CD, can I still do this?
A. No in some cases, yes in others, if your computer came with the OS already inside it, the manufacturer will normally either give you a recovery disc or a partition, if you use either it will make your computer the same way it was when you took it out of the box, and you don't need to backup your drivers.

Q. So I'll lose everything?
A. Yes I'm serious -.- Unless you back it up

Q. I finished this, I can't connect to the internet, what do I do?
A. You fag, I told you to backup all your drivers, you probably removed your network adapter...

Q. My audio doesn't work, what do I do?
A. You better have backed up your audio driver, or you have to go to a friends computer and download your drivers from a site, if their not there, your screwed.

This looks too easy to be true. Backuping the drivers is pretty useful.

Ok I have some very very important files on my computer but windows kinda sucks. So basically you're telling me that I should save the data I need and then clean this piece of junk and then it will actually work? Then all I have to do is like reinstall kmp player or directX... sounds too easy.

hi um i have a few questions. 1) my laptop is a dell inspiron 1501 with windows xp sp3 2006. I don't have the installation disk so can i download one off a torrent site like thepiratebay? 2) And instead of burning it onto a cd, can i put it on an usb? If so, I can follow the instructions from your vid. when installing xp from the usb? Sorry if it sounds stupid but ive been attacked by many malware and trojans so i want to start fresh again :) Thank you very much

Okay so if i lost my motherboard disc, this backing up of drivers will allow me to continue reformatting without the need of my motherboard disc right? Answer asap please and thank you! :)

I didn't watch the video (although i wish i had) i reinstaled XP my drivers where not on the reboot CD, i thought there were so long story short... i got no sound and i can't connect to teh internets, but everything else seems to work better than before (which was the whole point of re-installing)

so here is my question: where can i get the two drivers that im missing the audio and the... modem (i guess?) driver. i have an old laptop, where could i find it?
