Peter Singer on Hegel and Marx: Section 2

The special sort of vaguely God-like freedom that Hegel's twisted soul anticipated is one that is to be enjoyed by the occasional amoral superman at the expense of the lowly unwashed masses. Hegel thus became identified with Marx because his brand of egomania denied any principle potentially larger than his own self. This, of course, was the wet dream of the oligarchs, and just they way they think. He bashed Socrates purely out of spite for the humility that attends real wisdom and real courage.

Holy cow, intelligent people having an actual intelligent conversation... Yep, I'm in the right part of youtube.

@SwordInAir Schopenhauer believed in pederasty, fucking boys in the ass.

@krijassnica You can. I download university lectures and discussions between intellectuals, and then save them on my phone. Whenever I have to make a tedious journey on the bus, train or on foot, I listen to lectures, and thus I'm no longer bored!

walking alone for 3-4 hours is so boring. if only i could take talks like this with me :(

@JenNessis88 but is pride not as "bad" as ignorance?

Thanks for uploading
I can't believe that this video with Peter Singer, an actual intellectual and philosopher, has way less hits than youtube bloggers that don't have any idea what they're talking about or at best are only regurgitating ideas of other people. This is so sad!

Hey, compare the beginning of this video with this:
“Anthony Quinton on Spinoza and Leibniz: Section 2”
watch?v=MHaHCxsMy28
Have you noticed that both of these videos begin with the same framing of Magge saying the same thing and making the exact same gesture? Is this only a coincidence?! I don’t know ;)
I really love the way he says “Total Reality”. I hope to see this occurring more often on the show.
