I prefer to use the word Heathen. It is more specific to Germanic/Norse Paganism. I never use pagan when referring to myself, just because I see it as too broad a term. Odinist...Too specific, there's more to the gods than just Odin. Asatru is a very fitting term as well.

I think pagan is a bad word. The Vikings or whatever you want to call them had their religion like everyone else. Even after christianity took over, a lot of vikings kept their religion, but more secretly. But to answer your question: Yes, the vikings where pagan.
