Do you mind if i ask, what computer are you running 3ds max from because I use a Dell Inspiron 1525(CHEAP AZZ COMPUTER) and its abit laggy at times. I watched this video and your computer looks pretty smooth.. So i was just asking before I buy a brand new desktop.

It's a custom built PC. i7 chip, 12Gig ram, 2 x nVidia GeForce 9800GTx with SLI. It's about 2 years old, but still runs sweet.

Basically, Studio Clouds is the first plugin that allows you to import laser scan data into 3DS Max. Laser Scan data can contain millions or billions of points and trying to import that many points directly into Max would be impossible without performance issues or hanging.

@ForensicAnimations
so you are saying that this whole scene is a laser scanned data..and not a 3d model?

@eemran007
Right. You then model normally in Max with the point cloud data as a reference. There are also other programs that can be used to generate meshes directly from the point cloud data, but they are usually epxensive and depending on what you are looking for, not always what you want. In any case, laser scan data isn't for everybody, but there are a lot of applications in architecture, film, forensics and the pipeline industry.
