Polycarbonate or Acrylic? YOU Decide!
Which manufacturer's windshield would you rather put on your highly engineered motorcycle? Is there a difference in impact resistance? Crack resistance? Scratch resistance?
We took some popular acrylic windshields and subjected them to a battery of tests. We performed the same tests on our hardcoated polycarbonate windshields. We literally threw everything we had at them!
The results may surprise you! Click a button below to watch the video and see for yourself... then YOU decide!

I like the wind shield. Works well. very strong, but whats with the lock. The lock does not work at all.The people at switch are still helping with this matter. The locking device does not touch any part of anything. How can it be a lock???

I installed a Switchblade shorty on my FXDWG. Best windshield I've ever had. Puts the Harley windshields to shame. Thickness, strength, installation, lock, chrome strips, LOOKS and FUNCTION. Love it.

I had a customer who claimed his Acrylic windshield stopped a mid sized TURKEY. I guess it was sitting up on a berm beside the road and his bike startled it. Obviously turkeys don fly well, and his on managed a downhill trajectory to just above GS1100 Headlight level. National should use a turkey projectile on their next test, or get the Mythbusters to try it!

Those acrylic shields, from national too, are junk and a waiste of money, but national does have the best polycarbonate shield you can by, the coating on it is pretty much scratch proof (unlike acrylic which you can scratch with your finger nail) and the polycarbonate it self is going to last AT LEAST 2-3 times as long as your acryclic memphis shades shield (providing your acrylic shield does get hit by rocks or just cracks from age which acrylic tends to do.)

honeslty, i used to work for national cycle a few years back, and actually am the guy who hit the shields with the bat, really the polycarbonate is a far superior product, this was demonstrating that is their windshields could withstand a rock or a bat and no even crack, then when that pebble or rock gets kicked up at your $300+ windshield its not going to crack, chip, or break as acrylic does.
