A rare look inside a living wasp nest being built on a window. This is a pretty amazing disection of a nest that is only possible because these guys decided to build their nest right against a window! If anyone's interested I can get some more footage, as of June 6, 2009 this is still a living nest and appears to be under construction.

  • that is so cool

  • that is a hornet's nest

  • o-o WHY DID I CLICK THIS VIDEO!? WWHHYYY!? DX

  • thats cool and creepy

  • @Wuffy1970 i used to have a bald faced hornet nest on my window i love it when they build on the window since they don't find it needed to build a closing wall letting you see in the nest

  • is the nest still there?

  • Nope. I don't like being stung at all! Actually, I've NEVER been stung once during all the years I've been collecting because the nests are already abandoned when people ship them to me. By the way, these beneficial creatures DO serve a valuable purpose. They prey on large numbers of pests such as flies, caterpillars, etc... Just think of them as natural pest controllers! :o)

  • obiviously you like being stung by these nasty no purpose insects. there is one in my loft and i was looking for a video on how to destroy them....

  • it sort of looks like bald faced hornets 2 me, but i mihht be wrong. nice vid. hw big is/was da nest?

  • This is awesome! What you have there is an inside view of an aerial yellowjacket (Dolichovespula arenaria) nest. I hope that you will allow this colony to live. I would love to have it for my collection after the nest is abandoned in the late fall/early winter! Would it be possible to send it to me then?
