Creating a mandatory profile through GPO? Please elaborate.
You can lock down a profile through GPO, you can not create a mandatory profile through GPO (as far as I know).
So please share your knowledge instead of just making a statement.

Yes Off course. Whenever a user logs in, a temporary copy of the mandatory profile will be created

In my domain I'm using Win XP for my client OS, does this still mean I need to add the .V2 at the end of the Mandatory folder name? Thanks.

No you don't need the V2 at the end. Everything before Windows Vista/2008 don't need the V2 extension. Windows Vista/7/2008/2008R2 need the V2 at the end.
