This is by far and away the best video on the CD V-700 you will find on youtube. I was going to make my own, but this makes it rather pointless!

Those clicks scared the shit out of me

@Slapchop21 Short answer: No.
These detectors need to be really close to whatever they're measuring. It would have to be in the clouds for that. Also, you likely couldn't remote mount the probe because the signal loss along a very long lead would be to great.
You also wouldn't detect anything. If your idea is measuring for fallout, you need an instrument thousands of times more sensitive.

I just bought a refurbished Victoreen 6A and watching your video makes it even harder for me to wait for it to arrive. =)
Good job!!!

could the sensor part on this be mounted on top of a cellphone tower or something high up to potentially read radiation levels just under the clouds? maybe even getting readings from low lying clouds?

I own this unit. Thanks for the information.
Best of luck

Sorry I meant 700s I've been working on some 715s!!!!!!!!
not a survey meter, its a Geiger counter, a survey meter is a 710 for example.

@thecooldude9999 It's a survey meter. There are many types of survey meters. "Geiger" refers to the type of detector employed by this instrument. Some survey instruments have scintillation detectors, others ionization chambers, and others Geiger Mueller (GM) detectors.

please answer this question asap can i use this to find uranium samples?
The99REBEL 6 months ago
@The99REBEL Yes, I have a lot of uranium and it detects it very easily. It's best to have the slide/window open as uranium and a number of it's decay products give off beta radiation or a weak gamma ray.
