CHAN:
Now we have an update on Wang Qianyuan, who is a Chinese student at Duke University in North Carolina in the U.S. She has been labeled a traitor by Duke's Chinese Students Association after expressing her support for Tibet at a rally earlier this month.

Wang's parents who are living in the mainland have also been targeted. Their home in Qingdao has been ransacked and they have been fired from their jobs.

Wang says the Chinese Students Association has had a close relationship with the Chinese embassy for a long time. Law enforcement agencies in the U.S. are now investing the student organization.

[Wang Qian Yuan, Duke University Student]:
"From the beginning, this organization has been suspicious. It has a history of labeling and sending death threats to people - this kind of thing. Now, the United States police and the FBI are investigating the organization. Their financial reports reveal that they and the Chinese Embassy, the Chinese regime, have a very close relationship."

Wang Qianyuan recently hired a lawyer and she says U.S. police are protecting her. She hopes that next week she will be able to go back to class. She said that while some Chinese-Americans are supportive, the majority of Chinese students have deliberately alienated her.

[Wang Qian Yuan, Duke University Student]:
"They threw feces on my home, robbed and smashed my property. We lost many things. Now everything is chaotic... My school said I was not qualified to be a Chinese person."

Some people in China launched a campaign to boycott shopping at the France-based Carrefour supermarket. Wang said the current wave of fanatical nationalism in China is influenced by China's official media, which is very misleading.

[Wang Qian Yuan, Duke University Student]:
"I think this is very dangerous, national interests and partisan are mixed together. They do that just for their short-term emotional release, but it will ruin their future. That is very, very dangerous."

If she has become an icon it is because she has bravely stood up to the threats of CCP thugs. Are you one of them? Are you paid by the regime to post your rubbish?

And you are wrong- thankfully there are an increasing number of Chinese-young and old who are seeing the real side of the CCP and its oppressive and cowardly tactics. Its true there is a long way to go, but when so many people have been brainwashed by a one-party propaganda machine thats normal. You are a coward.

  • The courage of this young woman is an inspiration. The CCP apologist thugs and cowards who attacked her and her family are the real traitors to China.

  • Western universities should not be accepting Chinese students unless they are not CCP stooges.

  • In fact there are more young Chinese supporting the CCP than ever. this student has become an icon for traitors in the community of Chinese students studying in the US. The CCP has done great with developing China and the support of its rule has been obvious throughout the recent years, especially around the Olympics.

  • Major Chinese media outlets have planned 60th Anniversary historical retrospectives.

The Great Starvation, which claimed 36 million lives, and the crushing of moves to promote democracy within the party, both resulted from the political madness of the Lushan Conference. Neither the Starvation nor Lushan are mentioned once.

In a moment of high spectacle, we have struck a new low. This side-stepping of major episodes in Chinas history does significant damage to the credibility of Chinas media.

  • The Chinese communist government will have to make a choice soon, They will either have to dismantle their economy and maintain a state of poverty, repression and ruthless crackdowns, or eventually step down from power and allow for a democratic government to emerge.

These young people will eventually grow up. If the Chinese communists don't decide soon, one way or the other, the decision will be made for them - and likely with extreme violence.

  • I just had a shitty day arguing with my friends until I saw this video and the lovely comments here which makes me feel like less lonely.

  • no change here... ccp is the enemy of the human brain...

  • You sound like an obedient CCP puppet,

mindlessly going along with your masters orders.

  • Wang Qianyuan,u r true chinese.Nobody can do what you did.You are my inspiration. You tried to bond the two communities together but considered traitor. We understand CCP very well.Dont give up ur spirit.
