I think this performance proves very much that Whitney can not really dance, and apart from the fact that she has lost most of her register these days, I think this performance shows that she has never been a terrific singer. She is completely out of breath after one minute of semi-dancing.

She doesn't do that insanely high note at 2:14. Mariah is ridiculously meticulous in that regard. She may not have as much power as Houston, but when she sings live, she does every riff, every run and every note of the studio recording. I just came over from a performance of Open Arms and was stunned. Love both.

I remember this episode. After this performance, Arsenio himself said that he appreciated her singing live depsite that she had a cold because she could have lipsynched like others have done on his show. This was around the time that Blackbox, CC Music were busted for using Martha Wash's vocals and placing skinny women in front to lipsynch to her. Whitney went on to say that there will be no "Milli Vanilli here"
