The Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the Department of State, Ambassador Daniel Benjamin, arrived in Algiers on Sunday, July 25 for a three-day visit. On July 26, Ambassador Benjamin discussed the enhancement of bilateral security cooperation with President Bouteflika's Adviser Mr. Kamel Rezzag Bara and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Boudjemaa Delmi. On July 27, Ambassador Benjamin met with the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmalek Guenaizia; the Commander of Gendarmerie, Major-General Ahmed Bousteila; and the Acting Director General of the African Centre for Study and Research on Terrorism (CAERT), Mr. Lyes Boukraa. Throughout his visit, Ambassador Benjamin recognized the vital contributions Algeria has made in the fight against violent extremism and transnational crime, and thanked his Algerian counterparts for their leadership in this shared struggle.
