hands down ed reed is the best FS to ever play professional football. no doubt. he has more return yards off of interceptions than any other player. he has returned 3 blocked punts, 1 punt return, 2 fumble returns, and at least 7 INT returns to date. in 2008 he set the NFL record for longest INT return which was 108 yards against the eagles. he also went to 3 pro bowls. lets see troy do that. welcome to BALTIMORE.... 2/3 of the earth is covered by water... the other 1/3 is covered by ed reed.

@Froglegz100 Polamalu is a SS-- he shouln't have those stats. And those stats don't mean everything. He may have 10+ defensive touchdowns, but how many plays has he played in? You can be an over aggressive DB, get many turnovers, but because of that you may be too aggressive and let up too many big plays. IT goes both ways. Not saying Ed Reed is like that tho.

@NIPSisAGG How about Sean Taylor? Ed Reed is a pushover. The Ravens have a crazy good D-Line, that rushes the quarterback. That also makes the Quarterback throw bad passes which Ed Reed gets. Look at a Sean Taylor Highlight Reel, Than say Ed Reed is the best FS.

@eswcolby ed reed to date has missed 14 reg season games in his career playing all 16 in 6/8 seasons (6/9 if you count this season). Troy Polamalu has missed 17 games in his career (including this yr) playing 16 games in only 4/7 seasons (if he stays healthy this yr it can be 5/8 seasons) ed reed has basically been injured only a couple of times and even though he has been in the L longer he has played more games. fragile=polamalu injured in 1st game of season last yr. nuff said.

@eswcolby Tool he still IS a great FS (Free safety for the bums like you that don't even know the game). i said he won defensive player of the year as a SS (Strong Safety) tackling hard, blitzing well and intercepting like the beast he is. YOU said ed reed was never known as a hitter or even a good tackler... which is FALSE because he won the DPOY hitting hard and tackling great being a STRONG SAFETY and all.
