This is a little out of order for the next few videos, but we went to Ueno Park while doing our exploring. I have been to Ueno a few times, but this is my first time down Ameyoko. It is short for Ameyayokocho, which means Candy Store Alley because it was originally a road full of candy stores! I wish it still was! I like candy! ^_^ It is now a very lively shopping street with interesting people! Enjoy the walk down it!

Thanks for watching!

  • i thought ame meant candy? maybe it has more than one meaning..

  • See the video description! I noted my mistake! ^_^ ame does mean candy, but usually it is written あめ. The sign for the street says アメ which often is short for America アメリカ. Some places that talk about this street say it means one thing and some the other. But yea as the video description says it means Candy Store Alley ^_^

  • Seems to be a very interesting shopping street---and it's not too long so you can easily walk through. That's great.

  • Cantaloupe on a stick. Only in Japan.

  • @SteJVideo It also means rain, depends on how you say it, but you were right though. One meaning is candy
