Mon.Jan.2nd,2012 4:45am R.H.20 45F clear Saturn's rings are wide open rising in the East, just before day light. FYI for astronomers trying to locate the current position of Saturn hours behind the Constellation Leo where I located Mars this morning. The planet Saturn is currently rising two hands below Leo. Find the upper two stars of a triangle making Leo's hind legs pointing SouthEast, and follow that direction to the East horizon towards Saturn. Don't be confused by Arcturus in the Constellation Bootes to the North of Saturn, but almost equally above the horizon. Jupiter has set in the West SE of Pegasus . Saturn will be rising between Leo & Virgo before dawn. It is dim yellowish & appears much smaller at it's current distance from Earth. Captured on a clear Spring evening' during a new Moon in the 1st quarter, conditions were good for skywatching with an assortment of telescopes. Saturn's rings begin to appear at about 90X magnification & at 120X are clearly defined with a resolution of 0.7 arcseconds, where the image size may be dependent upon an individual's visual correction (ie. hyperopes see a larger image than myopes through the eyepiece, so clarity and magnification of the image will vary from person to person ). Includes clips from Constellation Orion west of azimuth at dusk March 2009, with outlines to Orion's Belt & Nebula, then closing clip of Saturn in transit. Saturn is not as bright as the stars Serius, or Regulus, but has the same distinctive yellowish hue . Set to PeanutShells off the Bad Media Man album. Keeno finding Saturn's rings & watch them with smore Koodoos.
Ahh so beautiful it's just funny how it looks fake but it isn't. I wish I can see Saturn from a space ship that would be so awesome

Hi. What is meant by "west of azimuth"? I thought azimuth referred to degrees on the horizon. Thanks.
