I was actually in his debut performance with the Washington Opera in this role...the one "at the invitation of George London" that Ms. Sills mentions at the top of the selection...Jeffrey Goldberg his accompanist was assistant conductor of that performance. I believe Florence Quivar was the Italian girl...it's been a long time...but the night belonged to Rocky!!

Great post of a younger Rocky. True bel canto, Rocky had more warmth in his voice back in the 1980s. What a long and exhausting aria, unless you're Rocky.

He is one of the best 'coloratura' tenors I know, and a specialist in the Rossini repertoire.
