This video demonstrates how random chance processes lead to a clear image via the process of selection.

All the image data is randomly generated. Each generation is the result of sexual reproduction and random mutations plus a selection mechanism. While this case uses an image, the image represents the selective pressures of an environment.

  • Man... This is deeper than ya think. There is much truth right here.

  • @MichaelLorenger It was a remarkable moment seeing the simulation program run successfully the first time. I couldn't imagine breeding random images and doing random bit flips actually leading to a photograph.

    But there it is at ten generations per second.
