Canberra Rally 2007 Mineshaft Crash

Car 39 takes a massive dive over the Mineshaft in the Canberra Rally on 3 June 2007. It is a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 driven by Peter Jerie and navigated by Tristan Kent.

For all those who are concerned that no-one helped them, that is because we were told to stay put immediately after the crash. Listen to the audio. I think the last thing they would want is a bunch of ameteus jumping the fence and making things worse. There are professionals just across the road. In a previous year, a driver was injured on a similar jump, and the ambulance were there to help within a minute or two.

And there was only 30 seconds between them coming over the hill and stepping out of the car. The ambulance crew would have to be sitting just on the other side of the fence the car hit in order to get there that quick. Not me thanks.

Nice clip, but Tristan (15) was the Co-driver(Navigator) not the Driver. Peter Jerie is a little older than that :-) Glad that they both walked away!!
