Check out my other pottery videos at www.youtube.com/user/EvolutionStoneware . This is an instructional pottery video on how to attach a handle to a mug that was thrown on the potters wheel by Janis Hughes in the Evolution Stoneware Pottery studio. It's meant as a teaching tool with discussion about what I'm doing and why I'm doing it that way. Sorry it's so long! Check out www.evolutionstoneware.com and Evolution Stoneware Pottery on Facebook. Thanks for watching and click 'like' (if you do).

  • @DirtKickerStudio Thanks for the feedback. :) I tend to put handles on at hard-leather-hard. I like to put the magic water on first to soften up the clay then use the slip to glue the handle on really well. When the slip overflows around the edges of the handle it helps smooth in the seams. A lot of people use magic water alone, and it works for them, though. I think it would be best to work with soft leather hard pieces for using magic water alone.

  • Those mugs are crazy cool!!!! I'm curious about your using magic water along with slip with magic water in it. Is the magic water by it's self not sufficient? I'm wondering because I just made a jug of magic water. I've never used it before.

    Thanks :) Cindy
