Seriously, one of the best writers ever, not just modern writers.

George R. R. Martin is the one who created sagas that can almost compete with J. R. R. Tolkien's.

I read that story when I was a kid in a collection of dragon stories. It was actually the story that made me love fantasy so much.

Now that's a better way to put it, much better then "hurry the fuck up and write more before you die mafacka!"

I'm getting a bit annoyed at all the mentions of his age, but this was fine :)

Not that I have any right to judge, its just an annoyance of mine.

It looks so cute, but I can't help but wonder how much time it took away from A Song. -_-

The Odyssey isn't a novel. Homer and Martin don't even compare.

I have to disagree. I'd say Homer was and is the greatest author of all time. Read the Iliad and the Odyssey. But still, after reading the first two of George R.R. Martin's books, I'd have to say that he ranks within the top ten best authors of all time. His books show how dangerous power can be when so many people claim it for themselves. It serves as a lesson that power must be handled delicately.
