Henry V speech practice for feedback

Pizazz, man. Splash a little magic on the screen, use sound to your advantage, mate, think dolby.

Perhaps if you need your script you must read it first (like autocue) and then deliver the words after looking up and getting eye contact with your 'soldiers'.  Take your time, put weight into the wording and try to give it a passion which it deserves. Good to see you though. Not easy to take up Shakespearian acting with only your classical training from Blackfyne Comprehensive to fall back on. Good luck. David.

Hi Jon, I tried to paste a comment on youtube but it doesn't appear to have attached itself.I suggest you ether stand still or get off the stage and amongst your audience. This speech was by the King and delivered to his friends and soldiers just before getting stuck into a big battle. It's meant to inspire his men to greater glory.

The pause points are key in this speech - linger on the emphasis to allow the audience to think on what you have said (rather than pausing when you lose your place!); tricky i know, but who said being good was easy!!!!!!!

Good effort - is this Hollywood magic rubbing off on you??? For my comments - remember that he was exhorting troops(worn out after long though profitable campaign), and most could expect to be maimed the following day (but to run away would result in near certain death); this can give it a certain 'edge'.

You have a beautiful voice, and you look great. My little suggestions are just what pop into mind, from what I've learned. ABOVE ALL, try to forget that you're reading and be "in the moment." That's kind of mystical and airy-fairy, but it brings a "natural" tone to your voice. In the beginning, I thought your voice sounded a little "stiff" (although I know the character is also, perhaps, "stiff"), but it seemed like you voice became more sincere, or involved, or "natural," as you went along.

5) "Wandering" least is best. It's considered stronger, esp. for this character. When you move, it should be because a feeling or thought made you move toward or away from something specific.

6) Same with gesturing.

7) Above all--motivation. What are you trying to accomplish? I could take the time to read up on the speech, but...are you chastising non-participants? Glorifying participants? I couldn't hear the words too clearly.

3) Some people don't agree with this, but I substitute loved ones/events, to trigger emotions (like picturing a loved one in the place of a character I'm talking about/to. You could also spend a little time thinking, for example, about what it would be like to put yourself in Iraq, or Vietnam, or whatever "hits home.")

2) What just happened? Make up for yourself, putting yourself in his place, what the battle was like; make up little details that will "feed" your feelings, during the speech (what you saw, heard, felt, smelled).

1) Where are you? Visualize what's surrounding you on 3 sides. When you direct your attention around, imagine as clearly as you can what you're looking at (bloody battlefield? freezing castle?).
