Here's another video of me playing Midway's The Grid. (Damn I need a haircut!)

Here's the one player version of the game, you pretty much go up a ladder, kinda like Mortal Kombat, and try to get a set amount of frags in the set time limit.

The game could connect to six other machines but the most we ever saw were three, and the arcade we went to only had two, but it was a blast playing it again.

If anybody from Midway is watching this, PLEASE consider bringing this game back on the Wii!

  • 2:55 - Liu Kang doing a flying kick? Seems like this game uses a mix of sounds from old Midway games. I can't decide if that's awesome, or just Dan Forden being lame.

  • @mud409 The whole game was made a lot of people that made MK, so there's tons of references to the games in The Grid. One of the character's special attack is a flying kick like Liu's so they use the same voice clip.

  • I'm working on a pc game mod of this using Valve's Source engine. I'm working to reproduce the arcade version detail for detail. Keep an eye out for it.

  • Awesome idea. I'd love to play that. Hopefully I'll have a new computer to give it a whirl.

  • OMFG dude I have a chance of buying a game similar to this, War: The Final Assault arcade cabinet, should I get it?!?!?

  • War's a lot of fun too, I used to play it at an arcade near me before they closed. Most of the fun of both The Gird and War is playing it with other people. Both games get old fast when playing it solo.

It's cool because the games would keep records and you could keep playing. So if your getting more then one cab for an arcade, check it out. But if it's just for you as an arcade game in your home, I'd go for something better.

  • It's too bad that the only people who will remember this game are the few who played it in the short time it was out. The game just came out at the wrong time when arcades were dying.

  • @PressStartComic Hmm beg to differ :S Mouse is better by far even from long ago.

  • Nice video Nick! It's really a shame that people forgot about this one. Back in it's prime basically everyone played either this or DDR. I'm not much of a DDR fan so I stuck with Grid. A lot of quarters went into this machine. lol.

  • Selling 2 cabinets of the grid on Long Island NY.

Search craigslist Long Island for "The Grid" or msg me here if interested

  • great game i want one in my room

  • no way i have that game in my garage i bout that game at a pizza place that shut down

  • ware do u live

  • it won't work in mame 32, you need a 3d based arcade emulator. Mame 32 is for 32 bit 2d based games . (usually anything from the 80's to 2000.) but 3d games are sketchy on there, they either lag so much they aren't playable or don't display at all.
