Why I choose Firefox over Safari

Safari is OK, but by no means a great web browser. Here are some of the reasons why I choose Firefox 3 over Apple's Safari on my Mac.

(I am aware WebKit claims dramatic speed increases compared to other web browsers, but it is my general policy not to run any beta software on my system. I did use some of the FF3 release candidates for a time, but RC != Beta.)

I prefer Firefox over Safari too, but recently I've been having some buggy problems in Firefox 3. On more than one occasion I've tried to open a link in a new tab. The URL appears in the address bar, but the page is blank and says "done" at the bottom. So I have been using Safari when this happens.

Weird. Normally I open links in new tabs by holding down the command key as I click. So far I find FF 3.0.1 to be rock solid, but everyone's computer is different. 3.0.2 is supposed to be out by the end of this month so that might squash this bug for you.

Which laptop do you have(or use most often)? I know in this video you say 'Macbook', but that could mean Macbook Pro, too. Just wondering!

When I made this video I was using a white 32-bit 2 GHz Core Duo MacBook with 2 GB of RAM. Your comment is the first one I am responding to with the brand new replacement MacBook Apple sent to me because I had so many problems with my old one. My primary machine is now a 2.4 GHz white "Penryn" MacBook w/ 2 GB of RAM, 160 GB hard drive, 802.11n wireless networking and a whole bunch of other upgrades. I hope to post a few video about it over the weekend. Peace.

safari 4 on snow leopard is insane!!!

btw firefox fails when tring to load my website, it puts red lines everywhere and boxes around stuff. test it out.

The new safari 4 beta is faster than the previous version. Firefox is nice too, but I'd rather use safari as the main browser anyway.
