Atajualpa...was the last sovereign emperor of the Incas ...born in Quito...on March 20th 1497.
The Spanish invited him to meet with them...in a plaza...in Cajamarca...and prepared an ambush...in
the buildings surrounding the plaza. After Atajualpa and his people arrived for the meeting...they were
massacred in the ambush...and Atajualpa was taken prisoner. After some time in prison...he was strangled [by
garotte]...by the Spaniards...in Cajamarca...on August 29th 1533. This song looks at the bloody night of
the ambush...as the beginning of the end for the Incas. Feeling historical events like this should not be
completely banished from our minds...this song was written to commemorate the passing of the Time
Of The Incas...and their last sovereign emperor...Atajualpa.

  • Wow!!!! My dear Marakakore you never cease to surprise me. I don't remember ever hearing this one. I started studying Inca, Maya and Aztec culture on my own, summer of '71 and couldn't understand why we were not taught at school this type of history. I wanted to name Francisco, Atahualpa, but his father thought it was hard to pronounce in English!!!! Thanks so much for this song. Hugs, love and peace.♫☼☺☻♥♪

  • Thanks for your comment!. This was one of the hardest songs

for me to write because I had to go to a very dark place to do

it...i.e. what happened to the First People of the Americas...

during and after the conquistadors came. I am glad I did

persist...these things are to be told or sung about.

  • David, yet another thoughtful story, painful genetic memory.. 45 years ago I saw a play in London, ROYAL HUNT OF THE SUN.. same story.. the trickery and butchery of the godfaring invaders from spain. yet another of the apparently never ending savagery of man.. note, not mankind, but man, male man.. you song can be sung for many peoples all voer the world right now.. "Sing it loud and it's almost like praying..." Thanks again..
