NERF guns are waaaaay less powerful than a paintball marker. Only thing is people can still get startled by something that resembles a weapon, but NERF guns are apparently used a lot in these games.

It's pretty obvious why they don't use paintball markers:

1. It's illegal.

2. You can miss your target and damage property/injure someone else who's not playing.

3. The markers are for the most part too large to hide = everyone will know you're an assassin and will run off, small paintball "pistols" cost a lot of money. Same thing goes for masks, they give your position away.

In short: it's against the law and if it wasn't, it's too dangerous & not discreet enough. :)
