Rolled fondant has become a popular decorating option it's so easy to shape so even less experienced decorators can create something lovely. This is a great example. The quilted texture on the cake looks great against the bold, multi-hued daffodils.

  • First of all I think its great that you give us tips on how to make cakes!

But I have a question about stacking cakes! I live in germany and I can not find dowels, what can i use instead of dowels to stack the cakes!?

And how can I make my own cake boards?

    Thank you! :D

  • Most hardware stores will carry 1/4 dowels that can be cut down to size but if you cannot find dowel rods at your local hardware store you can also use Wilton hidden pillars cut to fit.

For cake boards you can just double thickness heavy cardboard wrapped in foil cut to the size needed. Also a wooden board or foamcore board cut to size needed can be used in place of a cake board.

  • I think Wilton does a GREAT job for those who are beginners at explaining how to become a successful cake decorator. I was once an amateur and VERY much appreciated being treated that way. Thanks Wilton!

  • i appreciate the video, but i have some advice please do not treat viwers like we are retared you do not need to ask every silly thing, its tiresom, and you are making a fool of youself, and you do not need to say in what ocation we could do the cake, just do it, leave that to us!!! i dont want to be mean, but believe me that there are a looot of people who feel the same

  • For as big of a company Wilton is this is the worst production I have seen. If you are going to show quilting do it on the cake, not a bowl covered in fondant. By the way, the fondant was dry, that's why it ripped. For pros, this was amateurish. I have been through all of the Wilton classes and always looking to learn more. Sad to say I was very disapointed in this video.

  • I have to agree that while the videos are informative, and I want to watch more of them, the dark haired asking a lot dumb (though occassionally good) questions is really getting old... for example, if the blonde says "put it in the fridge" the brunette says "to let it cold?" ... or the blonde says "to let it harden a bit" the brunette will say "so it will stiffen up a bit". The videos would be WAY better WITHOUT the brunette, just saying. She doesn't ever do anything anyways!

  • omg....get that girl a kleenex
