@CyclingMikey I am sure the irony of the Officer raising his voice (in a quiet room) as he explained this to me was totally lost on him, he did appear a little out of control at the time, so I would love to see him on a bike!
I did a stocktake on my testicals (to the amusement of my workmates) later, present and correct! Luckier than a recent visitor to Henderson Police Station!

@TheVexatiousLitigant Crikey, that's stupid of them. I'd like to see Henderson police out riding with you for a few weeks, and then see if they don't shout after getting nearly wiped out. Floods of adrenaline and a near death experience make even the most mild mannered person likely to shout.
They sound like a right bunch of oxygen thieves. Totally unlike the mostly very professional coppers here in London.

@Camsplint Cool, next time a good kick in the plums it is! :-)
-
@Camsplint - Ha! Here in NZ, if someone breaks into your home you'd likely be charged with assault if you cause them any harm!
Of course, if someone passes so close that they cause you "immediate concern for your safety" and also cause you to lose your balance, and while swinging your leg out to, you know, "regain your balance", you kick a big dent in their car... Oh well... ;)
-
@veloevol It's hard to look dominant with a D lock embedded in your teeth though :)
-
@WellingtonBikeCam01 So does that mean that they won't take action against you if you beat the living sh!t out of the driver after they've assaulted you with a motor vehicle, because that would be two bites at the cherry?
Sauce for the goose, and all that!
-
@TheVexatiousLitigant I'd "suggest" to them in the strongest possible terms that if they did the job that your taxes pay them to do you wouldn't be needing to confront anyone.
-
@WellingtonBikeCam01 Well if anyone can NOT give out a ticket for this it would be Henderson Police Station, I just have to hope the driver doesn't live in the area, I always send complaints to Central Auckland now, as there is a much better chance of action being taken (anything above zero is an improvement!)
-
@TheVexatiousLitigant - Part of me is confident in Henderson Police's ability... to NOT issue a ticket ;)
Your BrakeZound™ serves as evidence that you had to slow down to avoid a collision... might be worth mentioning in the report.
Keep us updated on this one.
Crikey, that was bad driving! That's the sort of forward planning that couldn't manage a p1ss up in a brewery, IMO. Best practice by you not following the driver to have a word, well done! I'd have been very tempted to do so myself.

Let's hope the Police do something about that one, it was an atrocious left hook.
