Well there are a number of reasons:

1 ) They do it to piss people off

2 ) They have no redeeming skills to show off so they strive to stand out by being the first poster in everything

As for Bruce, it bites he's back to old spoiled behaviours in the end. Gotta admit that the memory stealing kid does have good intentions of increasing the happiness of others.
