So... After rain turned our Mid-Michigan snow into thin slush who'd want to go xc skiing? My brother and I went a local park (East Gate, Okemos) and here's what happened...
This is our first "movie." We used a little Sony still-cam in video mode taped to a bike helmet. We strapped the helmet on backwards to get the face-forward view. Crazy!
There are 7 hiking trails near our house. Such trails are as good for XC as resorts are for downhill. So as long as there's snow, just ski wherever you are! The air is fresh, the views wide open. No excuses: get out there!

East Gate park along the Red Cedar River, just off Meridian Rd.---the trail goes to VanAtta Rd.
