@ashishdworld17 As the train passes out of a DC supply area into an AC supply area (or vice versa), it is necessary for the loco to switch off and drop the pantograph it has been using, and raise the other one to take the different power supply. Some dual-voltage locos use the same pantograph for both supplies, and switch over internally. There have been locos built that can handle as many as four different power supplies, with a separate pantograph for each one.
