Nitrous Oxide is used as an anesthetic and as an aerosol spray propellant. I have heard that some studies have found that it makes you more suggestible and Imaginative. I wouldn't really call this making you smarter though.

@LaKuPuLa well many things go to the brain without even inhaling it. If you even put alcohol in your mouth it effects the brain. Your body absorbs it. It doesnt have to go through your lungs or stomach nessisarily
